Michigan City, IN (August, 2016) – DEKKER Vacuum Technologies, a leader of vacuum solutions worldwide for the woodworking industry and many other major industries, will exhibit at the International Woodworking Fair (IWF), to be held August 24-27 in Atlanta.
IWF is the second largest trade show in the world serving the many material processing and design aspects of the woodworking industry, including wood furniture, cabinetry, upholstery, architectural woodwork, stock millwork, solid surfaces, plastics fabricating, flooring, material handling, machine tooling and forest products/harvesting.
Mike Kirk, Northeast Regional Manager, and Tom Manzagol, Southeast Regional Manager, will represent DEKKER in booth 4054.
“The most essential applications of the woodworking industry depend on vacuum technology, particularly CNC routing, chucking, lifting, veneering and drilling,” Kirk said. “Because vacuum needs can be complex and require a wide range of settings and conditions, DEKKER offers a world-class roster of vacuum pumps and system configurations.”
Manzagol said, “IWF is the woodworking trade show that gives us the widest audience for our products and services in one location. We meet face to face with reps from the largest production companies to the smallest professional shops, and that’s perfectly in line with our overarching message that DEKKER pumps are the best choice for woodworking, no matter what the size of the operation.”
DEKKER Vmax Maximizes Hold-Down Force, Sawdust Control
“The two most significant challenges in the woodworking manufacturing environment are hold-down force and sawdust control,” Manzagol explained. “DEKKER products stand out for their capabilities in these areas.”
Determining accurate hold-down force is critical. CNC router users typically use one or more vacuum pumps to hold down work pieces on the router table. The hold-down force depends on the force generated by the depth of cut and feeding speed. Vacuum leakage increases as more parts are routed and more of the MDF board (medium-density fiberboard, or particle board) is exposed.
Adding to the complexity of the process is the constant presence of sawdust in the work environment. It is sucked into the pump and can reduce vacuum efficiency.
DEKKER’s VmaxVFD (variable frequency drive) oil-sealed liquid ring vacuum pump systems with TiTAN liquid-ring pump address both concerns.
The VmaxVFD provides maximum hold control, because its variable motor speed capabilities match changing machine and usage requirements, allowing equipment to respond more precisely to different loads. The net result is better control and operation at up to 50 percent reduced horsepower, saving energy and reducing waste due to part slippage caused by insufficient flow or vacuum level.
Designed for heavy-duty applications, the TiTAN liquid-ring pump handles carryover of soft solids, such as sawdust and other contaminants, far better than other vacuum pumps, because its external bearings are isolated from the pumping chamber and there is no metal-to-metal contact inside the chamber.
TiTAN liquid-ring pump are available in capacities ranging from 35 to 2,000 CFM. For larger capacities, the DEKKER Maxima-K series pumps feature capacities up to 39,000 CFM.
Manzagol said, “Our Vmax pumps have proven their superior performance, which is why it’s the only system on the market with a full 3-year warranty.”
DEKKER Pumps for Other Woodworking Needs
DEKKER’s DuraVane line of pumps and systems are ideal for chucking and lifting applications commonly used in woodworking. DuraVane 100% oil-free (dry) rotary vane vacuum pumps and systems and DuraVane lubricated rotary vane vacuum pumps and systems offer economic performance, reliability and low maintenance. Capacities range from 2-100 CFM (dry) and 2-710 CFM (lubricated).
DEKKER Consultation Expertise a Topic at IWF
“IWF is about people as much as it is about technology,” Kirk said. “And we really enjoy telling attendees about the DEKKER team. Our engineers have a working knowledge of the woodworking industry that makes consultation a valuable feature of the DEKKER sales experience. When we design custom vacuum pump systems that work in your unique environment, our engineers have the experience to take into consideration, for example, the effects of altitude on hold-down force or how to maintain vacuum performance by regular cleaning and minimizing leaks.”
